From comic artists, panels, to booths of all assortments, New York Comic Con 2014 has already begun its preparations for the convention in October. This year, the event will be held at the Javits Center from October 9 to the 12. The guest list has already begun to form and the panels are on their way to being scheduled—Here’s a small preview of what will be available this upcoming fall.
First, the famous and prestigious comic book author Stan Lee will be available again on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the autographing area. He’s known for co-creating many of Marvel’s super heroes and making Spider-Man a newspaper comic strip. Other comic spotlight guests that will be in either the Artist Alley displaying their work or in the NYCC Autographing Area include Adam Hughes, Katie Cook, James Robinson, Scott Snyder and many more.
As for the entertainment spotlight guests, some of the cast from “Game of Thrones” will be available. Natalia Tena, who played Osha from and Kristian Nairn, who played the character of Hodor, will be around the Autographing Area to speak with fans. The only other announced entertainment guest at the moment is Jason David Frank, who is most known for his role as the Green Ranger in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.”
The literary spotlight guests this year include Kim Harrison, author of the “Hollow” series and Cory Doctorow, author of “In Real Life.” They will be splitting the four days of the convention between them at the Autographing Area.
Some of this year’s panels include a panel for DisneyXD’s animated “Star Wars Rebels.” Though fans expected to see an inside scoop of “Star Wars: Episode VII”, the production is still in London. SyFy will be presenting their own panel with the stars of the upcoming film “Sharknado 2: The Second One”, which is to be officially released on July 30. They will also have a panel for their recent show “Dominion” and as well as three-parter for the shows, “Helix”, “Defiance” and “Ascension” on Saturday.
And as always, a fan favorite, Heroes vs. Villains will continue for another year, as these two groups battle it out with each other and themselves for best costume contests. The meet up places for these two groups have yet to be announced but checking on the website will definitely get some hits closer to the official New York Comic Con dates.
For now, the New York Comic Con seems to be bringing up the normal amounts of fanfare as the four day passes have already been sold out in their entirety. The tickets are almost sold out online but will soon be coming to retail stores. To find out where, one can visit newyorkcomiccon.com/tickets, or to purchase the ones left online.
