After months of speculation, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky announced the pregnancy of their first child on Jan. 31. The soon-to-be parents were photographed together on a snowy day in Harlem, by celebrity photographer Miles Diggs. The photos depicted the couple smiling and holding hands, happy to share their big news with the press. 

The fashion icon took to Instagram to debut the pictures, where she showed off her baby bump in a Chanel bright pink coat from their 1996 Fall collection. The coat was buttoned only to cover her chest, leaving her stomach bare and on the bottom, she wore a pair of light wash baggy jeans with a low-waist fit. 

The pop sensation accessorized her outfit with luxurious chains and jewels, also from the same Chanel collection, peeking out of the front of the coat and wrapping around her midsection. A$AP Rocky was seen wearing an oversized denim jacket, a hooded sweater and a pair of baggy leather pants. 

Rihanna has had an exciting past year, celebrating many achievements in multiple areas of her career. In early August of last year, Forbes announced that the singer and entrepreneur became a billionaire, officially declaring her the wealthiest female music artist. Rihanna’s net worth is estimated to be around 1.7 billion dollars, coming from her music, fashion line and beauty brands. 

Fenty Beauty, her cosmetic line exclusively sold at Sephora, makes up for most of her economic status, valued at 1.4 billion dollars. Savage x Fenty, her lingerie brand focusing on body positivity and confidence, is worth around 270 million dollars. The rest of her net worth comes from her highly successful music career, delivering multiple platinum albums and selling out arenas over the last decade.

On Sept. 24, 2021, Rihanna premiered her third Savage x Fenty lingerie show, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The runway show was filmed in the summer of 2021 at the Weston Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, featuring many celebrities and models. The brand promotes body inclusivity and diversity, therefore the whole creative team made sure to include a variety of body types, ethnicities and gender identities. The cast consisted of performers such as Normani and Troye Sivan as well as household models like Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima. 

Rihanna told the Hollywood Reporter, “I think the challenge every year is to make it better than the previous one, and this year we went bigger, we went better, and I’m very proud of every part of the show.” 

Along with her business accomplishments, Rihanna was named a National Hero of Barbados on Nov. 30, 2021. She received the award as the country was celebrating its 55th year of independence from Great Britain. During the ceremony, Prime Minister Mia Mottley acknowledged Rihanna for all the good work she has done and quoted one of her songs, saying, “May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your words, by your actions and do credit wherever you shall go.” 

As for her music career, Rihanna talked to Billboard about her upcoming album saying, “I’m really experimenting. Music is like fashion. You should be able to play. I should be able to wear whatever I want. I treat music the same way. So I’m having fun and it’s going to be completely different.” 

Rihanna has achieved so much in the past year, and fans cannot wait to see what she does in the next phase of her life, both as a mother and an artist.
