As graduation looms around the corner, seniors reflect on their years at the University and provide advice for those who are new to navigating their college life.
Marcus Vargas is in his third year at the University, but is graduating early with a degree in Communications and Media Studies and Film and Screen Studies. Vargas also reflects on the changes he’s gone through since freshman year. “You’re gonna see a lot of people come in and out of your friend groups, like since freshman year, a lot of my friends don’t even go here anymore.” Overall, Vargas says that his senior year has been full of self-discovery. “It’s really just about giving yourself grace.” According to Vargas, it’s important to enjoy college and enter the next chapter with excitement and preparedness, not fear.
Calvin Blind is graduating with a degree in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications. Their advice is to talk to the people in your classes. “Class friends are so underrated; they will help you get through your academic life.” Upon reflecting on their years at the University, Blind said, “Maybe I wouldn’t have gone out so much, I would’ve spent some more time studying, I think.”
Jazmyn Williams is graduating with a degree in Psychology of Neuroscience. “It goes by very fast, so live it up, but also lock in.”
Zoey R. is graduating with a degree in Women and Gender Studies, and their biggest piece of advice is “just go through it all, and it’ll all work out.”
Amir Abdullozoda is an international student from Kazakhstan, graduating with a degree in Computer Science. “I am so excited to graduate and for the journey ahead of me,” he said.
The best of luck to all seniors who are entering the adult world.
