December is finally here, and the holidays are quickly approaching. With all the stress of finals and the semester coming to an end, holiday shopping can feel like one more thing to add to the pile. The Pace Press is here to help. Here are some of our favorite shopping spots that will have you crossing off that list and getting into the holiday spirit.
The Shops at Columbus Circle
With many familiar brands, The Shops at Columbus Circle is a great place for those in a hurry. With more than 50 shops to browse, you’re sure to find something for anyone on your list. If you’ve got some extra time, be sure to check out “Broadway Under the Stars,” a series of special performances by Broadway companies held at The Shops. Performances happen on select Thursdays at 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season.
Hudson Yards
There’s no better way to turn your shopping trip into a celebration than 2 million twinkling lights. The “Shine Bright” light display has taken over the stores of Hudson Yards. With more than 700 trees and 115 miles of string lights, Hudson Yards is the perfect place to grab some gifts and get the perfect holiday photo for Instagram.
Bryant Park Winter Village
With over 100 vendors, the holiday market at Bryant Park’s Winter Village is the perfect place to find unique gifts this holiday season. Bryant Park has gifts for any price range, from inexpensive stocking stuffers to luxurious specialty items. While you’re there, be sure to grab a bite at one of the many delicious food vendors the park has to offer. Once you’ve finished your shopping, head to The Rink and strap on some skates, or just cozy up rink side with a cup of hot chocolate for the perfect holiday vibes.
Macy’s Herald Square
Known for its status as the world’s largest store, there is quite literally no better place to find everything on your list than Macy’s Herald Square. Its iconic holiday window displays and over-the-top decorations have made the store synonymous with the holidays in New York City. While there, be sure to see Macy’s Santaland, a magical holiday experience that will transport you to the North Pole and make you feel like a kid again. Reservations are required, so be sure to book in advance.
5th Avenue & Rockefeller Center
No one does the holidays quite like Rockefeller Center. From its iconic tree to the holiday displays of 5th Avenue, there’s a reason Rockefeller Center is known as the Christmas capital of New York City. Head to Saks to see their holiday light display, or step into FAO Schwarz and live out your “Home Alone 2” fantasies. Shopping can be pretty pricey near Rockefeller, but the holiday fun makes it worthy of a visit. End the night with a trip to see the world-famous Rockettes in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for a holiday experience that is uniquely New York.
While holiday shopping can be a struggle, it’s important to remember to find the fun this holiday season.
