On Feb. 8, the 2025-2026 National Football League (NFL) season came to a conclusion as the Seattle Seahawks crushed the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX. Seattle, led by Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and their “dark side” defense, prevented New England from reigniting their fallen dynasty.
This game was a rematch of their Super Bowl XLIX classic, which saw the Patriots edge out the Seahawks 28-24, sealing the game on a Malcolm Butler interception at the goal line. But, Seattle got their revenge this time around.
Neither team could get much going to start the Super Bowl. After a first-possession field goal from Seattle, both teams would trade punts for the remainder of the first quarter. Going into halftime, Seattle held a lead of 9-0, with all of their points coming off the leg of kicker Jason Myers, who broke the NFL record for most points scored during a single season (including playoffs) with 206. Myers would finish the game with 17 points.
Formally labeled “bust” quarterback (QB), Sam Darnold defined all odds and led Seattle to the Super Bowl. Darnold played a competent game, throwing for 202 yards with one touchdown, making few mistakes along the way. This performance was enough for his defense to take over in what was a physical, defensive showdown between the two teams.
Seattle’s defense was especially dominant, constantly overwhelming New England’s offensive line and registering six sacks of Drake Maye, along with two interceptions while shutting out the Patriots for three quarters of the game.
The first touchdown of the contest would not come until 13:24 remaining in the fourth quarter, where tight end (TE) AJ Barner hauled in a 16-yard pass to extend Seattle’s lead to 19-0. The Patriots showed some signs of life when just a minute later, QB Drake Maye threw a perfect pass into the arms of wide receiver (WR) Mack Hollins to get them on the scoreboard.
Seahawks linebacker (LB) Uchenna Nwosu put the game on ice with 4:30 left on the clock after intercepting Drake Maye and returning the football 45 yards for a pick-six to make the score 29-7.
The Patriots would score one more touchdown late in the game before missing a two-point conversion to end the game with a final score of 29-13.
The Seahawks running back (RB), Kenneth Walker III, took over the game with his legs. Walker rushed 27 times for 135 yards, as well as 26 more yards on two receptions. He was the lightning bolt for Seattle’s offense as the Patriots’ defense was able to lock up All-Pro receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Walker earned Super Bowl LX MVP for his efforts, becoming the first RB since 1998 to receive the honor.
This is the second time in franchise history that the Seattle Seahawks have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, their first was in Super Bowl XLVIII.
